Landshapes LLC, a partnership composed of Cindy Lee and Barry Greenstein, as shown above, is not to be trusted, in my opinion . I found their dealings with my company to be dishonest. I encourage potential clients and vendors to avoid doing business with Landshapes LLC for the reasons described below. Our relationship with Landshapes began on 23 December 2007 when the CPA of Landshapes, the equally dishonest CPA Jeff Brooks, (in my opinion, and who happens to be a relative of one of the Landshapes principals) called my company. Mr. Brooks asked me to organize information and use a well-known accounting program to prepare the 2007 accounting books for Landshapes LLC. Between January 3 and April 8, 2008, I visited Landshapes at their request at least 9 times (generally, 59.4 miles round trip each), accumulating over $2,000 in unpaid bills. During each visit, Susan Simonson the erstwhile "accountant" at Landshapes, sat within 4 feet of me, watching virtually every keystroke during every minute of every hour of every day that I was there. Part of her responsibilities were certainly to report on the quality and value of the workl. During the period of 3 January to 7 April, no one communicated any dissatisfaction with the work, except that they wanted faster progress and they kept asking me to return. My work was time-based, and there was no commitment to have the work finished by any date, however I went to the Landshapes offices to work within a few days of each request. Work was often delayed by their schedules. The accounting situation at Landshapes was problematic, compounded by Ms. Simonson's limited capabilities. There were many errors since she has little knowledge of accounting. Mr. Brooks did not inform me about these problems, however we proceeded with the work. Ms. Lee and Mr. Greenstein also have little interest or knowledge of accounting, and could not help in a meaningful manner. By 8 April 2008 the work was approximately 95% completed. I emailed information to Mr. Brooks who was well informed of the situation. Mr. Brooks then suddenly cited frivolous and unsupportable reasons that the work was not acceptable, and my relations with Mr. Brooks, Cindy Lee, and Barry Greenstein were conveniently terminated shortly thereafter. When I asked for payment, Ms. Lee attempted to negotiate 50% off of the bill, even though she was clueless as to the progress or quality of the work performed. This has led to four court appearances as of Aug 28. It is my opinion that Cynthia Lee, Barry Greenstein, CPA Jeff Brooks, and Landshapes LLC routinely create frivolous reasons to not pay bills to those who are foolish enough to trust them. I encourage vendors not to do business with Landshapes, and I encourage clients to be aware that, in my opinion, angry vendors and subcontractors to Landshapes may not produce quality work for your project, not to mention that most clients prefer to work with honest business partners. There is also a possibility that your architectural work will not be performed by licensed architects (see next paragraph), or that your work will be delayed or cancelled, due to the numerous complaints/investigations cited herein, in my opinion. Additionally, when onsite at Landshapes I noted that most of the architectual work was performed by John Simonsen, who is not a licensed architect. But Mr. Simonson does happen to be another relative of Cindy Lee. Barry Greenstein is also not a licensed architect. Note that Mr. Brooks is not a California-licensed CPA, nor is he an "Out-of-State Licensee with California Practice Rights," per the California Board of Accountancy as of Jan 9 2009. This matter has been submitted as a complaint to the Arizona State Board of Accountancy (the location of Mr. Brooks) and The American Insitute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The questionable (in my opinion) business relationship between Mr. Brooks and Landshapes has also been reported to several financing sources/insurers/bonding companies.
